Great dining experience, every time!

That’s Terry Sullivan’s verdict, editor of In the Sticks magazine, your invaluable guide to what’s on locally and must-see places.

We were pleased to see him recently when he came in for dinner and even more pleased with his review.

Terry and his guest dined on dishes from both the specials board and the à la carte menu, to put both to the test.  His verdict:

“I ordered a starter of rabbit croquettes with soused beetroot salad from the specials board – the rabbit was minced and seasoned to perfection and the tartness of the beetroot balanced the dish perfectly.”

“For mains I had Tidenham duck and duck’s shepherd’s pie, baby carrots, port and juniper reduction – an interesting dish, the duck breast was pink just as I had requested and the minced duck in the shepherd’s pie turned a traditional dish into one of a different dimension.

“For dessert, we had warm ginger parkin with salted toffee sauce and poached rhubarb. The parkin was just like they make in Yorkshire – oaty in texture and wonderfully warming with the sweet sauce and slightly tart rhubarb.”
